What Are Technical Indicators?

Using RSI More Effectively

Instead, it provides an indication of how much price has typically been moving over a selected period.
ATR can therefore be useful when considering stop-loss placement, position sizing, and whether current market volatility is suitable for a particular strategy.
For example, placing an extremely tight stop-loss in a highly volatile market may result in a position being closed by normal price fluctuations rather than by a genuine invalidation of the trade idea.
6. Average Directional Index (ADX)
The Average Directional Index, or ADX, is designed to measure the strength of a trend rather than simply identify whether price is moving upward or downward.
This distinction is important because a market can be moving upward without necessarily having strong directional momentum.

7. Fibonacci Retracement
Fibonacci retracement is a popular technical analysis tool used to identify potential areas where a market pullback may encounter support or resistance.
Commonly monitored levels include 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, and 78.6%. These levels are not guaranteed reversal points. Their usefulness generally increases when they overlap with other meaningful technical factors.
For example, a Fibonacci retracement level that aligns with a previous support area, a major swing point, and a favorable price-action pattern may provide stronger analytical context than a Fibonacci level used in isolation.
